Uitleg BRM Lasersnijder

Voorbereiding: 2D tekening maken

Instruction BRM Laser cutter

Preparation: Create 2D drawing

1. Create your drawing or design in a 2D or 3D drawing program. For example Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, Fusion 360.

2. Draw a rectangle around your design, of which you know the dimensions. You can check your dimensions in RD Works and scale them if necessary.

3. Save or export the file as a .dxf from .ai file.

Ready to laser cut

1. Open on the laser computer RD WorksV8 program on the Desktop.

2. Click on file, import, search your file and open it. (if RD Works does not want to show the file look at the tips at the back) 3. Check whether the dimensions of your drawing are correct, by selecting everything and, if necessary, adjusting the dimensions in the top left corner of the screen.

4. Choose for yourself which lines are to be engraved. Click on the shapes, give them a certain color. You can drag the colors to different order.

Then you can select cut or scanning (engave). To change 'Cut' to 'Scan' or 'Dot', double-click the word. You can adjust the setting in the table.

You adjust power and speed with MinPower / MaxPower and Speed. The correct values you can choose from the example cards.

Max. Power is 80% Maximum Speed for scanning is 600

5. Make a picture of the settings for your material, in case you want to use this again.

Tips for problems:

- Always place a rectangle (of which you know the size) around the shapes you will cut with the laser. You can adjust the size of this rectangle in RD Works if needed to quickly solve scale problems.

Lasercut: BRM Laser

1. To turn the laser on, turn the key and press the green button. Turn on the water cooling / compressor / laser tube with the black switch. Put the switch of the exhaust on the wall to ON.

2. Place the material in the laser. With the Focus Tool you set the correct height for the laser.

3. Place the Focus Tool on the material under the laser head. Loosen the upper ring. Slide the laser head tube down until it touches the Focus Tool. Then, fasten the top ring again.

4. Use the arrow keys to place the laser head to the upper left corner from where you want to start cutting. Click on Origin.

5. Then click Download on the computer. And give it a job name. Do NOT use Start from the program, because it will start immidiately.

6. When the download to the laser has been completed, the button Frame on the laser can be used to examine where the design will be cut. If all of this is correct, the valve can be closed and press Start.

Tips for problems:

- If you want to stop in between, click Start / Pause on the machine, then you can continue where you left off. - To actually stop a lasercut job, click Esc on the machine.
