InkscapeExtensions

At the Inkscape wiki you can find a list of Inkscape Extentions. It is good to check this out once in a while because new extentions are frequently made and added by people who miss Inkscape functions for their own use.

Here I list the extentions I installed for making drawings for the Laser cutter and the Vinyl cutter.

Een Inkscape Extension installeren onder Windows: De gedownloade extesions komen meestal terecht in de downloads folder op jouw computer. De extension bevat een .inx bestand en op z'n minst één andere (meestal een .py bestand). Kopieer deze bestanden naar de Inkscape extension directory. Inkscape is zeer waarschijnlijk geïnstalleerd in C:\Program Files\Inkscape, dan vind je de extension directory in C:\Program Files\Inkscape\share\extensions. Sluit Inkscape af als je daarin werkte, en start opnieuw Inkscape op. Dan verschijnt de nieuwe Extension in de Extension/Uitbreidingen menu erbij.

Je vind deze onder Applications, zoek Inkscape in de lijst en klik hierop met rechter muisknop (ctrl+klik), 'Show Package Contents', open Contents, open Resources, open Share, open Inkscape, open Extension folder. Ga terug naar de Downloads folder, unzip de gedownloade extension, en kopieer de .inx en de .py bestanden naar de Extensions folder. Sluit Inkscape af als je daarin werkte, en start opnieuw Inkscape op. Dan verschijnt de nieuwe Extension in de Extension/Uitbreidingen menu erbij.

Tabbed Box Maker

Via de link 'Tabbed Box Maker' kun je de extentie voor de Tabbed Box Maker downloaden.

Hiermee kun je doosjes van verschillende afmetingen tekenen om bijvoorbeeld uit hout of acrilaat te snijden met de Lasersnijder. Door verschillende parameters in te vullen kun je de binnen- of buitenmaat bepalen, ook de lengte van de verbindingen en het snijverlies.

De Box Maker verschijnt onder Extenties als 'Lasertools'.

T-Slot Boxmaker

Als een aanvulling op de bovenstaande Boxmaker, kun je ook de de Boxmaker voor T-slots installeren als extentie.

Verwijderen dubbele lijnen

Als er dubbele lijnen (op elkaar liggende) in je tekening staan, dan snijdt de laser deze allemaal. Hier een de uitleg en link naar de extentie om dubbele lijnen te verwijderen.

Inkcut

More information about using the CalorTransCT60 Vinyl cutter under Linux with Inkscape and the Inkcut extention you can find on this wiki under CalortransCT60 Vinyl Cutter under Linux.

Printing to plotters is not a standard feature, but there is an extension called InkCut that adds this.

This extention you can find here. Installation is just a matter of copying this extension to your ~/.config/inkscape/extensions folder (thanks Jairus!). This seems to work pretty well with this cutter!

Note: before printing, you need to change all objects to paths and ungroup all items.

Close Curves

This extention closes paths in a selection. Many fonts have 'open ends' where the nodes are not connected. When cutting fonts with a vinyl cutter, the knife will start and stop at these points and many times will leave a small piece uncut.

When using this extention on the paths of your text these nodes will fall together and 'close' the path. Then the knife of the cutter will cut fluently.

Installation is just a matter of copying this extension to your ~/.config/inkscape/extensions folder. Extension appears at Extension->Modify path.

Paths to OpenScad

Hiermee kun je 2D ontwerpen openen in het 3D tekenprogramma OpenSCAD. Download de extentie 'paths2openscad', extract de zip. Plaats dan bestanden uit de folder in de .config/inkscape/extentions map. Deze vind je onder linux door in 'HOME', 'enter location', .config/inkscape/extentions in te typen.

Onder Windows plaats je de de map rechtstreeks in de 'Inkscape extension directory. Bijvoorbeeld als Inkscape is geinstalleerd in C:/Program Files/Inkscape, dan wordt de extension map C:/Program Files/Inkscape/share/extensions.

Zet de bestanden los in de folder Extensions.

Open dan opnieuw Inkscape en de extentie verschijnt onder 'Extensions, Generate from path, Paths to openscad.
